The points involved in the scoring and the different sections to consider in
the evaluation of the Alcazarén Award are the following (1):

Design and Presentation (0-30 points)
|
Clean design in every
aspect: graphics, animations, buttons, backgrounds, etc. that facilitates as
much as possible the content reading. |
Main Theme and colors
attractive, proper positioning of the text (similar in all the windows in fonts
as well as size), banners, buttons and navigation bar. |
Balance between images
and text. Fast load. |
Proper behavior with
commonly used browsers latest versions. |
Conformance with the World Wide
Web Consortium (W3C), or similar, recommendations and showing the
validations. |

Deductions (0-15 negative points): |
Content disturbing
animated graphics or advertisements. Annoying advertisements. |
Backgrounds that increase
reading difficulty. Background changes without a justification. |
Background music without
a disable button. Flash, or similar, website introduction without a bypass button. |
Pop up windows (the
ones from free service ISPs are not considered). |
Automatic full screen
windows and attention distracting cursor. |

Content (0-40 points)
|
The reader is satisfied
with all the information and enables a reflection process about it (the
minimum content is defined in the qualification table of Alcazarén Awards). |
Original content. Documented
references using links or authors bibliography (include sources). |
When summarizing a
topic, the synthesis process gives a correct global impression. |
Good writing style,
using grammar correctly and facilitating as much as possible the comprehension. |
Educational and informative
contents (introductions, summaries, etc), original and based on investigation. |
Contents related with,
or about, towns, cities and regions. |
Guestbook and interactive
forums with moderator. |

Improper language,
offensive, vulgar, discourteus, etc. |
Missing data or relevant

it is an approximation, say it explicitly, if it is variable, be precise in

Easy of navigation. |
Proper operation of
the navigational tools, link with the home page in all the windows. |
Internal links open
in the same window. If some open in a new one, its use should be restricted,
consistent and justified (e.g. links to another website). |

the content of the website are included, thus amplifying or documenting the
information provided. |

Broken internal links
(including images). Broken external links. |
Mouse right button
disabled or other abnormal features. |

Theme and First Impression (0-10 point) |
First impression with
relation to the content and design. |

Each section is qualified regarding the importance and impact of the
indicated conditions, the same with the deductions (a broken link is not the
same as ten, nor is an internal broken link that an external). The minimum (0)
and maximum
number of points that can be assigned is shown, both positive and negative.
The maximum score that can be obtained by a website is 100 points.
Neither the gold nor the silver category will be awarded during the year 2003
as additional experience is required to correctly evaluate the sites. For a
nominee to obtain the Alcazarén award, future Alcazarén bronze award, the
website must get a minimum score of 60 points.
